A Review On Beyond The Mba Hype: A Guide To Understanding And Surviving B-Schools

Had I got this book in the year I embarked upon my MBA journey as a fresher, today things would have been different in my life. Sadly, Sameer was bit late in helping me out but I am glad that there are many other aspirants who would be benefitted by his thoughts and in-depth research penned down in Beyond The MBA Hype: A Guide To Understanding And Surviving B-Schools.

Well, this book talks about the real world MBA beyond the hype created by the institutions, admission consultants and our very own media. The book is all about understanding MBA education and about setting expectations from MBA. People think that there is a huge scope for the MBA graduates and especially in terms of money, but sameer points out the critical issues with respect to these thoughts in his book.  Few chapters in the book like “what they can never teach you at B-schools”, “Networking” struck a chord and any MBA grad would have experienced the same irrespective of the B-school. Without exaggerating about the book all that I would like to say is Sameer presents a very realistic picture about life at MBA. The presentation style, the fictitious characters Sachin & Mithu, the statistical data are some of the key features that adds value to the readers.

It could be a one stop resource for you, if you are planning for an MBA. If you are already an MBA, then probably you will feel the same experience. A good to read book.
